I just ordered one of these from Cabela's. Yep, the price is up there but I had a gift card from my good buddy and I took advantage of the $20 rebate. I've been on the hunt for the "ultimate" bow hunting pack and I decided, after much research, to go with the Tailhook. I'll report back when it arrives. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and got lots of goodies. www.eberlestock.com/Tailhook.htm

Well, The Eberlestock Tailhook arrived and I couldn't be happier. This pack is basically a beefed-up lumbar pack with a substantial shoulder harness, a "hybrid" if you will. It has several configurations to meet varying hunting situations. As pictured, it will easily carry everything needed for a day hunt. It is a neat-freak's dream with a number of easily accessible pockets to keep all of your gear organized. The outer material is a low-nap microfleece which is quiet and soft. Padding is substantial, breathable and VERY comfortable. It will carry both a bow and a rifle with ease. It also has the ability to carry two 2L water bladders. One of my biggest pet-peeves with packs is their inability to breathe. That's not going to be an issue here. Check this out, thousands of tiny "springs" create air pockets between the facing fabric and the hunter on every piece of padding... Here's a VERY nice feature. Once you're in your stand, the Tailhook connects directly to the tree and in doing so, opens up in such a way that A LOT of pockets are accessible to the hunter. This makes finding your gear FAST and QUIET... This pack also features a quick-release system so the hunter can gain access to his/her bow/rifle quickly. It took a few attempts to become familiar with the procedure but I've got it down now... Here's what the bow looks like attached to the pack and ready to be carried. It is well-balanced and securely attached... This pack will not be for everyone with a $189 US +++ price point. Like I mentioned, gift cards were the deciding factor. That being said, IMO it's worth every penny! I look forward to using it this coming fall. It's going to make my 20 minute walk to the stand hands-free and VERY comfortable.

I haven't done any real-world testing with it yet but I don't anticipate any issues. It seems secure enough for general walking/hiking. I really like that I can get at the bow without removing the pack.
