I have started gettin in touch with a outfitter in NFLD about shooting a moose this fall. I will be taking bow and rifle so that if I dont get one close enough for bow but my heart is set on a moose with bow. anyone shot a moose with a bow?

I have and it is allot of fun. The adrenalin is just pounding. A trip to NFLD will be allot of fun for you. A BOW MOOSE is great..

I havent been but the the one we are gonna use is "sandy lake lodge" I know one of the guides personally and this lodge also has been featured on tv. I will pass on any info as I find out if you guys want.

Hey Dropzone, did you go to NFLD for your bow moose?? If so what outfitter did you have and how was it, if you don't mind me askin. Extreme I haven't been to NFLD in 25 years for hunting. I used to live in Alberta up until a couple of years ago. I did allot of bow hunting there for 14 years. It was great fun. Spring bear, fall bear, 1 moose, 1 elk, 3 deer plus 1 supplemental and the occasional Buffalo(no tag required) all with a bow. Oh yeah you can also go up north and get yourself a Goat. Where I lived out there, you could even get yourself a wild boar. Now that is fun. Those things are fast. |

we are suspose to get in touch and meet up with owner / one of the guides this weekend or following week...I will post up some detials for you.... i haven't bow hunted just bow shoot so I hope I get my bow course in time I signed up tonight for it

I have been fortunate enough to be drawn for the Cape Breton hunt three times so far....some say it was rigged! LOL I took the first bull with a rifle and as exciting as it was I swore that if I was drawn again I would leave the rifle home. I was drawn again in 2003 and I knocked down a beautiful bull. He was 26 points and had nearly a fifty inch spread, I hit him broadside at twenty two paces. The arrow zipped thru him like hot butter and I watched him fall after a short run of only 35 yrds. He was off of his feet within a minute once the arrowhit him. We called him from a long ways off and what a rush listening to him come in and then have him step out so close......   Then I was drawn again in 2009, the weather for this trip was against us. It was either balmy or windy, which made it difficult to call and hear a response. But I did manage to get an arrow into a small bull to end another great trip.   Justin do yourself a huge favor and plan on hunting your moose with the bow in Newfoundland. I tell you, you will experience such a rush when you got that bull grunting on he end of your arrow and you are thinking,"I am going to shoot that thing with this sharp stick!"......you can't beat it. Good luck with your plans and don't forget to put in for Cape Breton. |

LOL I like how you put it " I am gonna shoot that thing with this sharp stick!" LOL trust me I have heart set on using my bow! I will be putting in for CB draw but skip this year just too much goin on with nfl and her going to WV deer hunting LOL funny part is I never thought I would have drive to do a moose hunt like i do now. seems the bow shooting has me hyped up for alot more hunting!
thanks for pics it got the heart going picturing one about 20 yards and me with my sharp stick LOL

well we put our money down tonight for mine and buddys hunt! the owner/one of guides came to house today and talked to us for about 2 and half hours on hunting moose. I will say I dont think there is many 50 inch bulls there and few really nice trophy's but I will say by talking to him you are gonna have a hunt of a life time. as the way they run their camp is all about the hunters
