how many go the extra mile to cover their scent? I have always just played the wind when I rifle hunt deer. I have had them very close before and scent also makes me wonder as one time while duck hunting I had heavy coat of OFF spray on and had a doe walk within 5 feet of me with wind blowin in her face LOL only thing between us was a wire fence that had no camo or anything to hide me

I am not as anal as some people but I do try to keep my scent down as much as possible.
1 week prior to season, I'll wash everythng in hot water and Baking soda, then put in in a sealed garbage bag with fresh cut balsam fir limbs.
I will wear a differnt shirt walking in and change it in the stand and seal that one away. Then I'll spray with a scent eliminator once settled in.
As you say Justin, playing the wind is a big part of it.
As you will come to find out, bow hunting is nothing like rifle hunting. The first time you see a deer in your sites at 10 yards you'll probably never pick up a rifle again.

I wash my cloths with sent killer and do what osdad dose, put some fir limbs in my kit bag. I leave my portable tree stands in from end july on, no sent on them. My boots are the biggest issue for me. Sitting in a vehicle, the soles get sent on them and when you are up in a treestand the soles are exposed to the air allot more then if you were walking. I even bought some of that sent control gum for your breath, well I would sooner watch a big trophy buck walk away then put that in my mouth again. This sent control clothing line is just to expensive for me to buy so anyone with good ideas is worth there weight in gold on here.

Scent waffers, seam to work well. They are cheep, and don't seam to spook deer. I used them on my hats this season, had lots of does walk out, did not seam to bother them. And did I say, they are cheap.

OK I'll give a few secrets away, first i don't buy any scent sprays,i make all my own with distilled water and baking soda/peroxide mixed in a spray bottle, its better than what you can buy.I wash all my clothes in baking soda, line dry, then they go in a bag with some fir branches. When i get into the woods ,i grab up soime of the moss you find in the woods(smells like fresh earth scent)and rub into my outer layers, also take some fir and pine branches and rub my clothes with that.I always hunt with the wind in my favor,if it isn'rt i go someplace else where it is,once you are busted by a big buck, you are busted,he will be on guard in that area about every time he comes through,he got your scent and knows to look for it there now.Biggest thing for me is i chew clorets gum ,that is the best breath killer going.try it.

I use a one gallon jug ,one box if baking soda, one bottle of peroxide, the rest water. It will need a fair amount of mixing each time you use it,but it works very well.Works good enough that when my golden retriever got sprayed in the yard by a skunk,i used this mix to wash him down and it really killed the scent.

There are lots of different scent killer recipes, google them up and try some ,I use a regular size you buy in the store, about a buck at the dollar store.I also use it on my oil gear and lobster fishing boots to de-oderize them from the ol bait scent.lol
