Until it was stolen this season, I used a HCO Scoutguard SG550. It took great night/day photos, and was very easy to use. It took 4 or 8 AA batteries, and I never changed them once from June-Oct, the last time I saw it, there was still half or more battery life still remaining. I also bought it local from Young Guns. Any time I had questions, they were answered asap. I will be buying another this upcomming season.

I can vouch for Chase. I bought a ScoutGuard 560V from a local dealer and it had a water leak. When I went to return it for a replacement, the dealer had none left in stock. I emailed Chase and he sent me a new unit immediately, without having the defective one in his hands! He said it was only the second unit that he'd heard of with a faulty seal. He told me to send the leaking camera back at my convenience. I think that says a lot about him. ;D

who sells the scout guard ?? and what price can I expect ? Hey Justin, Another vote for the scoutguards - I've got two of them (550s) and I'm very happy with them. I got one directly from trail-n-security online and got my second on at Dux-N-Dogs. Can't remember the price, but I do know that Ed beat trail-n-security by a fair margin. Also, like Take'em, I have had great customer service. I left my controller on the dahsboard of the car in the summer and it COOKED. I emailed Chase to tell him and got a new one in the mail. I was expecting to have to pay for it, but since it was within the year of the warranty he send it "no questions asked" for free! Only thing I've heard bad was some posts on NSH that the scoutguards were missing some shots that other cams were getting, but I don't think that's been a big problem for most folks. I have also heard of some of the newer models (560) going off before the animal is in view. IMO, I recommend the 550s overall. You don't have to open them up, so there is no seal to go wrong, and you can swap cards in any weather without worrying because it just pops in/out underneath with a little sliding plate. There is a hillside in an area where I hunt rabbits that is frequently torn to HELL with deer sign, but I've never seen a deer there. I took the cam in on December 15th and put it up wiht a new set of batteries in it. I have not had a chance to get back in there, so I'm really curious to see how the cam held up in the harsh winter weather we've had for several months, and also to see if I've solved the deer mystery! -Croc
