I was out hunting in an area last night for coyotes, its also one of my favorite deer hunting spots, made a few calls on my rabbit in distress, then a few deer bleats to sound like a lost fawn(yotes zero in on it big time if they are in the area)anyway,i'm waiting for about 15 minutes after i called, and to my right i hear a deer coming in,snow crunching and those unmistakable steps told me it wasnt a yote.
I didn't here it again so i continue calling and waiting, sitting up on a big rock.I happened to look to my right and WOW there stands a hog of a buck,i think the one i hunted hard all fall for,but had no daytime encounters with.I did see him in the headlights one night coming home, only for 2 seconds, but long enough to get a look at his rack.BIG.
His track is huge, along with his body size,i'll be looking for his sheds, can't wait to chase him next season with my bow.

I had a small flip camera in my pack, but he was maybe 10 feet away.LOL,I don't think i would have got away with moving,he walked back into the alders where he came from,I would say he is 200 pounds, looked even bigger with his winter coat all bristled up.LOL.Next year i'll spend a lot of time on him,he has a big area to cover, but its a klot of small patches of cover, keep the cams out all summer to figure him out, once bird season opens they change their partterns a lot around here.

I called all of them Justin, most times you go out and come home empty handed.Lots of times they came and went and i never knew it until i moved my set and saw the tracks. They like to circle the call, when that happens and you don't see them first, its game over.I use a cottontail distress call you blow into,i don't have the electronic rig, that looks like it would be better though.I called in one fox to 5 feet ,when it figured out i wasn't supposed to be there,he headed for the woods and shot a line of p in the air when he went.lol.pretty fun ,can get boring tho between sightings

Was out today and decided i'd go into where i seen that big buck awhikle back, one of his favorite places to hide, and i soon found out why .There was so many deadfalls and blowdowns nobody in their right mind would go into it,thats why he is there,LOL.I was in there for 20 minutes and jumped a big deer,he smashed and crashed his way out of there,i went over to where he was bedded and found about the bigges rub i ever seen in my life,a wholer bunch of rubs really.Never seen one on a tree 18 inches around LOL.Hope he makes it past the fella that shoots them out of his car 2 in the morning,he got one of the big ones i was hunting last year.
